Invisible protection for high-speed data lines
To protect high-speed data lines against
damaging voltage transients, the Vishay
VBUS052CD-FAH and VBUS054CD-FHI are
two- and four-line ESD-protection arrays
that feature flow-through design, small
package size and low capacitance to
minimise system-level impact.
The flow-through design allows engineers to
control trace dimensions accurately, including
length and width. The data lines can run
straight along the PCB, allowing the device to
be placed on top without the need for vias or
loops.
For products such as video cameras or
storage equipment, using high-speed
interfaces such as HDMI, eSATA, USB2.0, and
IEEE 1394 FireWire, the VBUS052CD-FAH and
VBUS054CD-FHI can be used transparently
since they have low load capacitance of 0.8pF
and less than 0.1µA leakage current.
Bi-directional operation with asymmetrical
clamping results in high protection for devices
operating up to 5V.
A further benefit is the low package height of
0.6mm, allowing space-saving design. The arrays
have 7.9V typical breakthrough voltage at 1mA,
and 15V maximum clamping voltage at 3.5A.
