Demonstration kit speeds time to market for touch-sensitive LED controls



 


Cypress Semiconductor EZ-Color™ and CapSense™ technologies together enhance LED lighting effects, and the Future Lighting Solutions TouchPad colour-mixing demonstration kit now combines these with Avago Technologies’ Orion LEDs to streamline development.

Cypress’s EZ-Color controllers for high-brightness LED applications support intelligent dimming control of multiple LED channels. Combining EZ-Color with CapSense touch-sensing technology allows end-users to create moods and accents using light, with the touch of a finger. This is possible thanks to EZ-Color’s built-in support for analogue and digital customisation. The TouchPad kit now combines EZ-Color and CapSense with the Avago Orion PLCC-6 tricolour LED on the same board, allowing designers to build tunable white-light arrays or colour mixers featuring touch-sensitive control. The simple touch of a finger can illuminate anything from an entire room to a large architectural-lighting display with warm-, neutral-, or cool-white light of variable colour temperature.

The small package size, high current-handling capability, 115° viewing angle and built-in reflector of the Avago Orion PLCC-6 tricolour LED make this the ideal device to design indoor and outdoor full-colour lighting applications using the TouchPad demonstration kit.
