I3G4250D gyroscope: stable over temperature and time

The I3G4250D from STMicroelectronics is a three-axis angular rate sensor, or gyroscope, which offers unprecedented stability, both in its zero-rate level and in its sensitivity, over temperature and time.

Thanks to ST’s unique single-driving mass approach and good circuit design, ST gyroscopes are able to guarantee a perfect match between the MEMS mechanical mass and the silicon interface. This helps to produce stability over temperature and time as much as ten times better than equivalent products on the market.

The I3G4250D thus allows the user to reduce the requirement for compensation and calibration during production for a faster time to market, easy implementation, higher performance and reduced cost.

The gyroscope includes a sensing element and an IC interface capable of providing the measured angular rate to the application through a standard SPI digital interface. An I2C-compatible interface is also available. The sensing element is manufactured using a dedicated micro-machining process developed by STMicroelectronics to produce inertial sensors and actuators on silicon wafers.

The I3G4250D has a selectable full scale of ±245 degrees/s, ±500 degrees/s or ±2,000 degrees/s, and is capable of measuring rates with a user-selectable bandwidth.
