The Atmel® SmartConnect WINC3400 is a wireless network controller System-on-Chip (SoC) which makes it easy for designers to add Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® Smart capability to IoT devices which have a separate microcontroller.
The WINC3400 includes an IEEE 802.11b/g/n radio and protocol stack for Wi-Fi connectivity, and a low-energy Bluetooth 4.0 radio and protocol stack for communication with Bluetooth Smart and Bluetooth Smart Ready devices. In its single-stream 802.11n mode, it offers a data rate of up to 72Mbits/s.
The SoC also features a fully integrated power amplifier, low-noise amplifier, switch and power-management circuit. It connects to a host MCU via its UART or serial peripheral interfaces.
The WINC3400 has its own on-chip MCU core and integrated Flash memory for system software, with a built-in co-existence mechanism for concurrent Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionality. The only external clock source needed for the WINC3400 is a high-speed crystal or oscillator. It supports a wide variety of reference clock frequencies between 12MHz and 32MHz.
