The SPBTLE-RF from STMicroelectronics is an easy to use Bluetooth® Smart master/slave processor module which complies with the low-power 4.1 version of the Bluetooth® radio standard. The device supports multiple roles simultaneously, and can act at the same time as a Bluetooth Smart sensor and hub.
The SPBTLE-RF module provides a complete RF platform in a tiny form factor. The radio and a chip antenna as well as high-frequency and low-power oscillators are included, helping accelerate the time-to-market of the final application. The module has certifications including CE marking and FCC and IC approvals.
The entire Bluetooth Smart stack and protocols are embedded in the SPBTLE-RF module. The external host application processor, where the application resides, may be connected to the module through a standard serial peripheral interface. The SPBTLE-RF may be powered directly with a standard 3V coin cell, a pair of AAA batteries, or any power source from 1.7V to 3.6V.

The X-NUCLEO-IDB05A1 is an expansion board which enables users of the SPBTLE-RF to evaluate the chip in an application environment. The X-NUCLEO-IDB05A1 interfaces with the STM32 microcontroller on any STM32 Nucleo board via the SPI pin.
