The STM32L053 microcontroller from STMicroelectronics offers very high power efficiency thanks to a large choice of internal and external clock sources, an internal voltage-adaptation scheme and several low-power modes. The STM32L053 is based on the low-power ARM® Cortex®-M0+ 32-bit RISC core operating at a frequency of 32MHz.
Four variants of the STM32L053 are available: the STM32L053C6 (32kbytes of Flash) and STM32L053C8 (64kbytes) are housed in a 48-pin LQFP package and contain a 10-channel 12-bit ADC. The STM32L053R6 (32kbytes of Flash) and STM32L053R8 (64kbytes) are housed in 64-pin LQFP or TFBGA packages and contain a 16-channel 12-bit ADC.
All the devices offer several analogue features, including a DAC, two ultra low-power comparators, several timers, and a real-time clock and a SysTick, which can be used as time bases.
They also feature two watchdogs: one watchdog has an independent clock and window capability, and one window watchdog is based on the bus clock.

Based on an STM32L053C8T6 MCU, the STM32L053 Discovery kit includes an ST-LINK/V2-1 embedded debug tool interface, linear touch sensor, touch keys, current measurement function, 2” e-paper display, NFC connector, LEDs, push-buttons and a USB mini-B connector.
