DF22 series: lock on centre of housing prevents cable entanglement

Hirose has introduced the DF22, a series of high-powered wire-to-board connectors offering high reliability in industrial applications.

The connector range consists of cable-mount female crimp sockets and PCB-mount vertical and right-angle male headers. Panel-mount inline and free hanging in-line headers are available to enable a cable-to-cable connection for increased design flexibility.

All versions can handle up to 30A current, when the application uses a single-position connector with an AWG10 crimp contact and cable.

The contacts on the header are protected by the robust internal walled structure, which prevents short circuits between adjacent contacts. The connector can withstand a voltage up to 2.5kV for one minute. The locking mechanism provides a positive tactile sensation and an audible click when mated. This confirms the connector is fully engaged, guaranteeing complete electrical and mechanical connection.

The lock is on the centre of the housing to avoid uneven locking and cable entanglement, a common fault of side locks. In addition, multiple connectors can be mounted closer together side by side.

Separate contact retainers are available to increase the retention force for applications where excessive pull-forces may be applied to the cable.

Keying variations are available to prevent incorrect insertion of the mating connector when multiple connectors are used. Built-in guide posts ensure accurate connector positioning and orientation on the PCB.
