ON Semiconductor has released its OmniClock family, a series of one-time programmable, low-power PLL-based clock generators which support any output frequency from 8kHz to 200MHz.
The OmniClock devices are extremely flexible programmable clock generators, providing more features on a single device than any other on the market.
They accept either a fundamental-mode parallel resonant crystal or a single-ended lowvoltage CMOS (LVCMOS) reference clock as their input. Their input-frequency range is 3MHz-200MHz with a reference clock, and 3MHz-50MHz with a crystal. They generate either three single-ended (LVTTL/LVCMOS) outputs, or one single ended (LVTTL/LVCMOS) output and one differential (LVPECL/LVDS/HCSL/CML) output of up to 200MHz.
The output signals may be modulated using the spread-spectrum feature of the PLL. The IC’s programmable spread-spectrum engine allows the configuration of the type, deviation and rate of modulation. This is ideal for applications demanding a low level of electromagnetic emissions.
Individual Output Enable pins are available to enable and disable the outputs, helping to reduce power consumption. In addition, individual Output Voltage pins are available to independently set the voltage of each output to 1.8V, 2.5V or 3.3V.
The Clock Cruiser software tool for configuring and programming the OmniClock devices is available free for download from the ON Semiconductor website.
