NXP Semiconductor – MCU with auxiliary processor for always-on sensor interfacing

NXP Semiconductors’ LPC4333 is a dual-core 32-bit microcontroller offering low-power operation in always-on sensing mode.

The LPC4333 features an ARM® Cortex®-M4 main processor core supported by a low-power ARM Cortex-M0 co-processor which is code- and tool-compatible with the -M4 core.

By configuring a system design so that the co-processor handles signal inputs from connected sensors and other input devices, users can hold the main ARM Cortex-M4 core in power-down mode for much of the time. This enables users to keep power consumption to a minimum in battery- powered and handheld devices.
