NXP Semiconductors has introduced a series of three demo kits to support its new PN7150, a high-performance ‘plug-and-play’ NFC controller IC.
Equipped with embedded NFC firmware and drivers for the Linux®, AndroidTM and Windows® Operating Systems (OS), the PN7150 NFC Forum-compliant controller enables easy integration of NFC functionality into OS-based systems via the standard NFC Controller Interface (NCI).
The choice of PN7150 interface boards from NXP makes integration of PN7150-based NFC designs very easy: users can select boards for any of the Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone Black or Arduino platforms and quickly add NFC functionality to a host Single-Board Computer (SBC) running an OS.
For integration into systems running the NullOS and RTOS OSs, NXP supplies a set of code examples to run on its microcontrollers.
The new OM5578 demo kits all include a PN7150 NFC controller board and an NFC Forum Type 2 tag, together with one of three interface boards for Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or BeagleBone Black. The Arduino interface board enables the quick implementation of NFC with any boards featuring an Arduino-compatible header, including most LPCXpresso, Kinetis and i.MX boards from NXP.
