STMicroelectronics – Analogue bottom-port microphone has MEMS sensing element

STMicroelectronics’ MP23AB02B is a compact, low-power microphone built with a low-profile MEMS sensing element. The sensing element, capable of detecting acoustic waves, is manufactured using a special silicon micromachining process.

The MP23AB02B has an acoustic overload point of 125dB sound pressure level and features a 64dB signal-to-noise ratio. Sensitivity is rated at -38dBV/PA for sound at a frequency of 1kHz.

The typical current drawn by the MP23AB02B in operation is just 150μA with a 2V supply. It is guaranteed to operate over an extended temperature range from -40°C to 85°C.

The device is housed in a three-lead land grid array package with a metal cap. It measures 3.4mm x 2.5mm x 1mm.

The STEVAL-MKI139V3 is a daughterboard containing four MP23AB02B microphones. It is possible to detach from the board the single PCBs hosting each microphone.
