The device’s wide input common- mode voltage range, low quiescent current and 6.4mm x 3.0mm TSSOP8 package make it suitable for use in a wide variety of applications.
The TSC102 measures a very small voltage drop on a high-side shunt resistor and, using an internally fixed gain, amplifies the difference into a ground- referenced output voltage.
The device’s input common- mode and power-supply voltages are independent. The common- mode voltage can range from 2.8V to 30V during operation.
Under extreme conditions, the device can withstand as much as 60V, enabling it to handle events such as load dumps. It can also cope with reverse battery conditions producing negative voltages as low as -16V.
The supply-voltage range is 3.5V to 5.5V, which means that the TSC102 can be supplied by the same regulator used by the system’s digital circuits.
