The L6362A is primarily intended to provide connections to sensors in industrial systems operating from a 24V power bus. The host device that needs the connection to a sensor is typically a programmable logic controller, an IO-Link master, a relay or a valve.
The L6362A offers a rich set of functions to protect the circuit in the event of faults. It can protect against reverse polarity, output short-circuits and over-voltage events. It can also withstand fast transients of up to ±1kV.
The L6362A’s output stage can be configured as high-side, low- side or push-pull, and it can drive resistive, capacitive and inductive loads.

The STEVAL-IFP017V3 is an evaluation board designed to enable the analysis of the features of the L6362A including fast demagnetisation and reverse polarity overload over-temperature ground and supply open-wire protection functions.
On the STEVAL-IFP017V3 the exposed pad of the L6362A is connected to an electrically floating copper area which acts as a heat-sink.
