Hirose – High-speed I/O connectors are rugged and compact

Hirose has introduced the IX series of connectors for space-constrained industrial applications that need to support high-speed signal transmissions at rates up to 3Gbits/s.

The IX range consists of plugs and receptacles with eight contacts which provide a physical interface to a local area network. The plugs are available in straight and right-angled versions, and with the cable oriented upwards or downwards. This provides for flexible connector configurations.

The narrow receptacle has a small footprint, and this means that multiple connectors may be mounted side-by-side with a pitch of just 10mm.

Secure locking is assured by a robust snap-in lock which gives a clear tactile click when mated. This confirms that the connector is fully engaged. In addition, the positive lock features a highly reliable pre-load mechanism with a long spring length, making the connector highly durable.

The receptacle is suitable for through-hole reflow solder processing. It features through-hole solder posts to secure the connector to the board and to protect the surface-mount contacts. The connector also features an enhanced structural grounding shield to protect against EMI and ESD.
