Microsemi – Inductive sensor interface implements complete data-acquisition sub-system


The LX3301A and LX3302 from Microsemi are highly integrated, programmable data-conversion ICs designed for managing and interfacing to inductive sensors.

They are intended for use in the measurement of mechanical motion. They implement a complete data-acquisition sub-system which includes:
• Embedded microcontroller with 12kbyte programme memory
• Integrated oscillator and demodulator
• Two independent sensor-input channels with 13-bit ADCs
• Programmable sample rates up to 2kHz
• Programmable gain amplifiers with differential inputs and EMI filters

The oscillator circuit is used to drive the primary coil of an inductive sensor. The two independent analogue conversion paths condition, convert and process two analogue signals from the secondary coils of the sensor. The embedded MCU provides programmable digital-filtering and signal-processing functions.

The LX3301A, which has a maximum operating temperature of 125°C, is qualified for use in automotive applications to AEC-Q100 Grade 1. The LX3302 is qualified to AEC-Q100 Grade 0, and is rated for operation at up to 150°C.
