NXP Semiconductors’ TJA1057 is part of its Mantis family of high-speed CAN transceivers, providing an interface between a Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol controller and the physical two-wire CAN bus.
The transceiver is designed for high-speed CAN applications in the automotive industry, providing differential Transmit
and Receive capability to a microcontroller with a CAN protocol controller.
The TJA1057 offers a feature set suitable for 12V automotive applications; it offers marked improvements over first- and second-generation CAN transceivers from NXP, such as the TJA1050 and TJA1051. It is also notable for its excellent EMC performance.
The transceiver implements the CAN physical layer as defined in the ISO11898-2:2003 standard and the pending ISO11898-2:2016 version. The TJA1057T variant is specified for data rates up to 1Mbit/s. Additional timing parameters specified in the TJA1057GT and TJA1057GTK variants enable reliable communication in the CAN FD fast phase at data rates up to 5Mbits/s.
NXP also supplies the TJA1044, a Mantis CAN transceiver similar to the TJA1057, but with the additional provision of a low-power stand-by mode with bus wake-up capability. In stand-by mode, the TJA1044 draws a current of just 10μA.
