NXP – Compact dual diode offers protection against high surge currents

The very small PESD5V0S2BQA from NXP Semiconductors includes two bi- directional protection diodes which protect two signal lines from the risk of damage caused by ESD and other transient events.

Providing 30kV of ESD protection for contact and air discharges, the device is housed in a leadless SOT1215 surface-mount package measuring just 1.1mm x 1.0mm x 0.4mm. It is capable of withstanding a surge current of 14A on a single line, or 28A combined over two lines, when tested in accordance with the IEC 61000-4-5 standard. Featuring typical diode capacitance of 35pF, the device is rated for a maximum reverse stand-off voltage of 5V.
