STMicroelectronics – Miniature 200mA linear voltage regulator features low power dissipation


The LDBL20 from STMicroelectronics is a voltage regulator which provides a maximum 200mA current from an input voltage ranging from 1.5V to 5.5V, at a fixed output voltage regulated to a tolerance of ±1.5% at 25°C.

Housed in an ST STAMPTM package measuring just 0.47mm x 0.47mm x 0.2mm, the LDBL20 may be accommodated inside small and battery-powered end-products such as wearable devices and smart cards.

Featuring a dropout voltage of 200mV and low quiescent current, the regulator helps to conserve power and extend battery run-times between charges. An Enable logic-control function puts the LDBL20 in shut-down mode
in which it draws a current of 0.03μA.

The LDBL20 is also notable for providing a low-noise output. Its power-supply rejection ratio is rated at 80dB at a 1kHz switching frequency, and 50dB at 100kHz. The regulator provides current-limit and thermal protections.

A wide range of output voltages are available on request from 0.8V to 5.0V in 50mV steps. The device may be stabilised with a 0.47μF ceramic capacitor on the output.
