TE Connectivity – Rooftop antenna captures radio and GPS signals for trains, trams and buses


TE Connectivity (TE) has introduced a MIMO rooftop antenna intended for use on trains, trams and buses to provide reliable cellular phone, Wi-Fi, WiMAX and GPS network connections.

The antenna incorporates two DC grounded radiating elements which are sensitive to frequencies across a broad range from 698MHz to 6GHz. In versions with an active GPS/GLONASS module, it is also protected by an integrated gas-discharge surge arrestor.

Housed in a flame-retardant polycarbonate housing, TE’s MIMO rooftop antenna is sealed to the IP67 level of ingress protection, ensuring that the antenna performs as specified in all weathers.

The MIMO antenna offers high peak gain of 6dBI at frequencies of 698-960MHz and 1,710- 2,700MHz; and 10dBI at 4.9-6GHz.
