Vishay – ESD protection diodes block transient voltages up to ±30kV

Vishay supplies two series of automotive-qualified semiconductor devices for the protection of Controller Area Network (CAN) and Local Interconnect Network (LIN) lines from transient voltages attributable to ESD.

The VLIN26A1 and VCAN26A2 are bi-directional symmetrical ESD protection diodes housed in SOT-323 packages measuring 2.3mm x 2.1mm x 0.95mm.

The devices’ breakdown voltage is rated at 8.8V at a current of 1mA. The VLIN26A1 provides ±30kV of protection against both air and contact discharges on one LIN data line. The VCAN26A2 gives the same level of protection to two CAN data lines. The devices’ ESD protection capability is verified in accordance with the IEC61000-4-2 standard.
