Vishay – Three-phase-bridge power modules help to lower end-product assembly costs

Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a new series of three-phase-bridge power modules which are housed in a low-profile PressFit package.

There are three parts in the new series. The VS-40MT160P-P has a maximum DC output current of 45A, the VS-70MT160P-P is rated for 75A, and the VS-100MT160P-P is a 100A module.

The modules’ PressFit package markedly reduces assembly costs when compared to equivalent devices mounted to the board with solder contact technology. By contrast, solderless PressFit technology allows for easy one- step PCB mounting, significantly cutting assembly time while simplifying in-field maintenance.

In addition, the elimination of solder contacts helps to extend the host product’s operating lifetime and increase its reliability. The PressFit package offers increased resistance to shock and vibration, while eliminating the risk of failure due to cold spots, voids, splatter and cracks. The PressFit package is also not subject to solder fatigue, a common failure mechanism in power modules operating at high temperatures.
