NXP – Small, low-power 32-bit MCUs make ideal replacements for 8- or 16-bit devices


The LPC800 series of microcontrollers from NXP Semiconductors offers a range of low-power, space-efficient, low-pin-count options for basic microcontroller applications.

Based on a 30MHz ARM® Cortex®-M0+ core which provides deterministic, real-time performance, the LPC800 devices are ideal replacements for 8- or 16-bit MCUs for designers who require greater processing bandwidth but who must maintain tight control of their power and bill-of-materials cost budgets.

A range of versatile timing, connectivity and analogue peripherals equip LPC800 series MCUs to handle a wide range of applications which have a requirement for a low pin count, small footprint or extremely low power consumption.

Unusually for low-end devices, all LPC800 series MCUs include a switch matrix and state-configurable timer/PWM functions, giving embedded developers a useful amount of design flexibility.

The peripheral complement of the LPC800 series includes up to 32kbytes of Flash memory and 8kbytes of data memory. The analogue capability includes a 12-bit ADC. The MCU can interface to system components via as many as four I2C, three USART and two serial peripheral interfaces.
