NXP – World’s thinnest medium-power Schottky barrier rectifiers

NXP Semiconductors has introduced a range of medium-power Schottky barrier rectifiers rated for forward currents of 5A-15A, and housed in a low-profile CFP15 FlatPower package.

The CFP15 package offers valuable space savings in advanced electronics devices and other products which have densely populated boards. Its flat design gives it a height of only 0.78mm, compared to the 1.1mm profile of competing products. At the same time, its footprint is compatible with that of many competing devices.

Featuring very low forward voltages, the medium-power Schottky rectifiers are able to achieve a very high current density. Their high power capability is due to the innovative design of the CFP package, which features a solid clip bond and a large heat-sink. The excellent thermal characteristics of the device enable it to tolerate a maximum junction temperature of 175°C.

In addition, the tin-plated lead-ends provide for automatic optical inspection of solder joints, helping to improve production efficiency.
