ON Semiconductor – Low-power RF transceiver achieves high link budget

The AX5042 from ON Semiconductor is a low-power RF transceiver IC which operates at 433MHz, 868MHz and 915MHz. It may be used to transmit data signals over a span of up to 10km.

The AX5042 implements narrow-band channel filtering at as little as 4.8kHz. It can achieve very high sensitivity, reaching -123dBm at 433MHz when demodulating FSK signals at a rate of 1.2kbits/s.

Producing output power of up to 13dBm at 433MHz, the AX5042 offers the designer the potential to achieve a very high link budget.

• Supports FSK, MSK, GFSK, GMSK, PSK and ASK modulation schemes
• Few external components required
• Programmable modulation scheme, frequency, deviation and output power
