Microsemi – Ethernet PHYs support speeds up to 10 Gigabits/s with IEEE 1588 synchronisation

A range of Ethernet physical layer devices (PHYs) from Microsemi enables system designers to reduce development costs and time to market.

The broad Ethernet PHY portfolio includes:
• SimpliPHYTM 10/100 industrial-grade fast Ethernet copper PHYs
• SimpliPHY and SynchroPHYTM Gigabit Ethernet copper and dual-media PHYs
• 10 Gigabit Ethernet and Optical Transport Network (OTN) PHYs for connecting systems via optical fibre, copper cable or backplanes

The Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet SynchroPHY family features VeriTimeTM, the industry’s most accurate IEEE 1588 network timing and synchronisation product.

The newest PHYs also enable 256-bit/128-bit AES encryption, based on Microsemi’s IntellisecTM IEEE 802.1AE MACsec technology. They are also the world’s first to achieve certification for the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 197 AES encryption to 256-bit strength. These PHYs are able to support AES encryption without compromising the accuracy of the IEEE 1588 timings.
