The SmartFusion®2 family of System-on-Chip (SoC) FPGAs from Microsemi are ideal for general-purpose functions such as Gigabit Ethernet or dual PCI Express control planes, bridging functions, Input/Output (I/O) expansion and conversion, audio processing, image processing, system management, and secure connectivity. Many of these functions are required in next-generation IP security cameras.
SmartFusion2 SoC FPGAs offer from 5,000 to 150,000 logic elements and a 166MHz ARM® Cortex®-M3 processor core. The processor has its own complete microcontroller sub-system with extensive peripherals, including CAN, Ethernet and USB interfaces.
Security features embedded in the SmartFusion2 FPGAs include AES-256 and SHA256 encryption, and on-demand data-integrity checks of non-volatile memory.
The advantages of the SmartFusion2 FPGA family are its low power consumption, proven security and high reliability which allow SmartFusion2 FPGAs to be commonly deployed in safety-critical and mission-critical systems.
Using SmartFusion2 can protect systems from over-building and cloning. DPA counter-measures protect the bitstream from cloning. The FPGAs also offer a secure boot function for FPGAs and processors.
