The new emitter produces output of 1,200 lumens at an efficacy of 150lm/W when operating at a junction temperature of 85°C. When implemented in a fixture design, this can give typical system efficiency of 120lm/W at a drive current of 700mA.
This means that the LUXEON MX’s light output is twice as high as that of comparable emitters commonly used in 120lm/W systems today.
The operating lifetime of the new device is also extremely good. Luminaire makers may use the LUXEON MX to meet the efficiency and quality requirements of the DesignLights Consortium® (DLC) Premium v4.1 specification at 700mA and 85°C.
The LUXEON MX also uses a new, robust package which extends its projected lumen maintenance lifetime far beyond that of the Lumileds LUXEON M LED. Designers can use the LUXEON MX as a drop-in replacement for the LUXEON M, as it has an identical footprint and optical characteristics.
