Microsemi – Gigabit Ethernet switch provides flexible industrial networking capabilities


The VSC7514 from Microsemi is a 10-port Gigabit Ethernet (GbE)/ Small and Medium- sized Business (SMB) switch which supports a combination of 1Gbit and 2.5Gbit Ethernet ports.
The device provides a rich set of industrial and enterprise Ethernet switching features. Using multi- stage Microsemi Ternary Content Addressable Memory (TCAM) technology, it enables the delivery of differentiated services, security through intelligent frame processing, and egress frame manipulation.

For industrial applications, the VSC7514 integrates Microsemi’s distributed timing technology which gives the industry’s most accurate IEEE 1588 v2 timing implementation. A powerful 500MHz processor core enables full management of a Layer 2 Ethernet switch system.

A comprehensive Application Programming Interface (API) and software development package together with two hardware evaluation platform options accelerate time-to-market for managed Ethernet applications. The software API package integrates easily with third-party software, preserving existing software investments.
