Recom – DC-DC converters for gate drivers feature high isolation ratings


RECOM supplies a variety of integrated DC-DC converter modules for the gate driver of an inverter’s IGBT or Silicon Carbide (SiC) MOSFET. The modules offer high isolation ratings up to 6.4kV DC, helping to extend the lifetime and improve the reliability of inverters.

Inverters often operate with floating voltage outputs far higher than 100V, and typically require an isolation voltage at least twice the working voltage. In addition, inverters commonly operate at high switching frequencies.

While optocouplers act as an insulator for the control signal, there is still a need for an insulator on the power side. RECOM’s gate drivers combine the asymmetric voltages into one module with high isolation.

For IGBT gate drivers, RECOM supplies:
• the RxxP2xx, RxxPxx, RP, RH and RKZ series in a compact SIP7 case
• the RV and RGZ series in a low-profile DIP14 and mini DIP24 case

These converters provide 15V and -9V outputs from 5V, 12V or 24V inputs. Total output power is 1W or 2W. They provide a symmetric power output.

For SiC MOSFET gate drivers, RECOM supplies the RxxP22005D and RKZ-xx2005D series in a compact SIP7 case.

These provide +20V and -5V outputs from 5V, 12V, 15V or 24V inputs. Total output power is up to 2W. The converter modules provide a symmetric power or symmetric current output.
