TE Connectivity (TE) has launched a new range of RJ45 jacks with integrated magnetics which are intended for use in industrial applications.
TE’s standard portfolio includes various jack configurations:
• 1 x 1 straight and right-angle, 1 x 2 and 2 x 1 form factors
• tab-up and tab-down options
• jacks with and without LEDs
These new RJ45 jacks support voltage-mode as well as current-mode Ethernet transceivers, providing customers with solutions for almost every industrial Ethernet application.
Improved reliability results from the jacks’ ability to endure continuous operating temperatures up to 85°C.
By contrast, standard RJ45 connectors typically have a maximum temperature rating of 70°C. Increased gold-plating thickness reduces the risk of contact corrosion over the connector’s lifetime, increases vibration resistance and provides for a higher number of mating cycles.
TE jacks also include more EMI springs, ten in the stacked configuration, than competing products, which have just six. This produces superior EMI noise shielding for more reliable connections.
TE’s RJ45 jacks with integrated magnetics support a cost-effective, infrared-reflow Pin in Paste (PiP) soldering process with high- temperature liquid crystal polymer material, eliminating the need for the extra assembly step required with wave-solderable RJ45 jacks.
