Hirose – New FFC/FPC connector can be inserted by machine on the production line


Hirose’s new FH63 series of Flat Flexible Circuit (FFC) or Flat Printed Circuit (FPC) connectors enables automated insertion for efficient end-product assembly.

A unique single-action lock allows an FFC or FPC to be inserted into the connector without opening the lock lever. This can be done with one hand or by a machine, helping to save valuable assembly time and to reduce the risk of mating failure.

The FH63 series features a temperature rating of 105°C, and withstands harsh automotive operating conditions. It meets the signal- transmission requirements of various standards:

Two-point independent spring beam contacts are used to reduce the incidence of contact failure caused by contamination. The spring allows the contacts to move and wipe dust from the contact path. If any dust remains, the second contact point will make the connection. In addition, the spring structure together with wide tapers allow for easier insertion of the FFC or FPC connector.

The robust locking mechanism gives a high retention force. In addition, the placement of the FFC/FPC can be inspected through small openings in the top surface of the connector.

Solder wicking is prevented by a special nickel barrier that is applied to the contacts. The FH63 can accept an FFC, FPC or shielded FFC for EMI prevention.
