The new LUXEON V from Lumileds is the company’s highest flux-density LED, offering a maximum 1,700 lumen output from a package with a compact 4.0mm x 4.0mm footprint.

The LUXEON V single-die LED can be driven harder than other LEDs in its class because of revolutionary new die and packaging technologies developed by Lumileds. The LUXEON V produces more than 1,700 lumens at 5,700K and 70CRI when drawing its maximum drive current of 4.8A. This flux is some 50% higher than that of competing LEDs.

The high flux density of the LUXEON V LED opens up new possibilities in fixture design for stadium and area lighting, as well as torches and other portable lamps. This is because of the LED’s unique combination of high efficacy at a high drive current with extremely low thermal resistance and an optimised radiation pattern.

LUXEON V LEDs draw on the strengths of Lumileds’ Patterned Sapphire Substrate (PSS) chip-scale packaging technology, which supports a high maximum drive current and high flux density.

Low thermal resistance of 0.8K/W means that luminaire designers can use smaller heat sinks for sleeker, more compact fixtures. LUXEON V LEDs feature a standard three-stripe footprint for ease of design and assembly. They are offered in five CCT values ranging from 3,000K to 6,500K.
