Hirose – Robust wire-to-board connectors have small board footprint

Hirose has introduced the DF52 series of space-saving wire-to-board connectors for applications requiring high strength and durability.

The connector range consists of crimp plugs and right-angle receptacles in a single row. The mated height profile is just 1.75mm, and the depth of the connector is 4.1mm, reducing the space on the board dedicated to connections.

The housings have been designed with thicker and more robust walls to prevent breakage and to provide resistance against mechanical stress during cabling assembly. In addition, a higher cable pull force of approximately 20N can be achieved.

The DF52’s crimp plug features a robust lance structure which keeps the contacts securely in place even when high forces are applied to the cable.

Highly reliable box-shape crimp contacts are used to prevent deformation and to provide strong resistance against breakage, snaring and rough operation.

The crimp plug has visible slits in the housing structure to act as an indicator. When the slits are no longer visible, this indicates that the connectors are fully engaged, guaranteeing complete electrical and mechanical connection.
