Diodes Incorporated – New USB Type-C multiplexer for USB 3.1 Gen 1 applications at data rates up to 5Gbits/s


The PI5USB30213 from Diodes Inc., is a USB Type-CTM dual differential-channel 2:1 bi-directional multiplexer/de-multiplexer switch for USB 3.1 Gen 1 applications. It includes a Configuration Channel (CC) controller.

The PI5USB30213 connects a USB 3.1 Gen 1 5Gbits/s port to a USB Type-C connector. It determines the orientation of the connection and connects the USB 3.1 Gen 1 port to the appropriate pins of the USB Type-C connector using the internal multiplexer.

It supports Host-mode, Device-mode and dual-mode ports, and implements automatic configuration based on the voltage levels detected on the CC pin.

The switch offers excellent signal integrity for high-speed signals, while featuring low power dissipation.

PI5USB30213 supports both pin and I2C control. In pin-control mode, the Port input pin determines the port setting between Host, Device and dual-role ports. Enabling I2C control mode allows communications through register read/write operations.
