Hirose has introduced the ER8 series of connectors which supports high- speed signal transmission at rates higher than 10Gbits/s. It is suitable for use in industrial applications.

The ER8 contacts offer excellent signal integrity, to ensure the reliability of high-speed signal transmission. The connector features an excellent insertion loss-to-crosstalk ratio. A 5 aggressor differential Far End Crosstalk (FEXT) rating meets the requirements of the IEEE802.3ap specification for 10+Gbits/s transmissions.

In addition, the ER8 series is very mechanically robust. The mating and unmating forces required to assemble these self-aligning connectors are as much as six times greater than those of common micro-pitch connectors. In addition, the ER8 series has an increased contact-wipe and insertion depth, making it ideal for applications that require high resistance to shock and vibration and that must withstand many mating cycles.

The ER8 series is available in parallel, mezzanine-type versions and in a right-angled format. The vertical connectors are offered with between 10 and 120 contacts. The right- angled version has 120 contacts.

Featuring low-profile stacking heights ranging from 7mm to 12mm, the ER8 connectors meet the size requirements of a wide range of applications.
