The LUXEON SunPlus series is the only line of LEDs on the market to be tested and binned by Photosynthetic Photon Flux (PPF), the unit which expresses the total amount of photosynthetically active radiation that a light emits per second. In addition, the range of colours enables wavelength tuning for maximum crop yield in both greenhouse and vertical farming applications.
The addition to the LUXEON SunPlus 35 Line of Far Red and Deep Red LEDs enables designers of vertical farming and interweaving fixtures to tune the spectrum specifically to the crop being grown.
Vertical farming installations are arranged in shallow tiers, so the uniformity of the LUXEON SunPlus LEDs is optimised for very short distances between the fixture and the plant.
The new Deep Red (650nm-670nm) and Far Red (720nm-740nm) wavelengths join the existing Royal Blue (445nm-455nm), Lime (broad spectrum) and three shades of Purple with varying contributions of blue (2.5%, 12.5% and 25%). All are packaged in a 3.5mm x 3.5mm format.
Lumileds has also introduced the LUXEON SunPlus CoB Purple (12.5% blue) product. This directional CoB device is intended for use in greenhouse lighting, which requires deep penetration into the plant canopy. The CoB form factor enables lighting manufacturers to take advantage of standard optics, holders and drivers.
