STMicroelectronics – BLDC motor-control system combines gate drivers and MCU in a single package


The STSPIN32F0 from STMicroelectronics is a system-in-package which provides an integrated solution suitable for driving three-phase Brushless DC (BLDC) motors using various driving modes.

It includes a triple half-bridge gate driver for MOSFETs or IGBTs, an LDO to supply the gate drivers, an STM32F031C6 32-bit microcontroller, and an internal DC-DC buck converter which provides a 3.3V supply to the MCU.

The MCU, which features a 48MHz Arm® Cortex®-M0 core, can perform field- oriented control, six-step sensorless control and other driving algorithms.

An evaluation board, the STEVAL-SPIN3201, is a three-phase BLDC motor driver based on the STSPIN32F0 and ST’s STD140N6F7 60V power MOSFETs.
