Vicor has released a new member of its Cool-Power ZVS Buck family of voltage regulator modules. The PI3325-00-LGIZ is the first such module operating at a nominal 24V or 28V input voltage to be capable of handling a current as high as 20A.
Vicor’s Cool-Power ZVS regulator modules supply more power at higher temperatures than competitive devices, without sacrificing power density or efficiency.
In the case of the PI3325-00-LGIZ, the 20A output capability at a regulated 5.0V is provided by a module housed in a compact 10mm x 14mm x 2.5mm LGA package.
It requires only an output inductor and few passive components to make a complete design which occupies less than 740mm2 of PCB space.
The PI3325-00-LGIZ is also pin-compatible with the PI3525-00-LGIZ, a member of the Cool-Power ZVS Buck family which operates from a nominal 48V input. This means that users can quickly migrate power-system designs from a 24V input to a 48V input with minimal development effort.
Higher current is also achievable through parallel operation of the regulator.
