Vishay – Transient voltage suppression diodes provide 400W of protection for portable electronics devices

Vishay Intertechnology’s VTVSxxASMF series of surface-mount TransZorb® Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) protection diodes features a breakdown voltage tolerance of as little as ±2%, tighter than the typical ±5% tolerance offered by competing devices.

Offered in a low-profile SMF package with a 2.8mm x 1.8mm footprint, the Vishay VTVSxxASMF series devices provide a high surge capability of 400W for a 10/1000μs pulse, making them ideal for use in portable electronics devices.

With their low 1mm profile, low-noise technology and very fast response times, the TVS diodes are ideal for line transient voltage protection in space- constrained designs.

The VTVSxxASMF series consists of 23 devices rated for working voltages from 5V to 63V. They are supplied in breakdown voltage tolerances of ±2% and ±5%. The diodes offer peak pulse-current ratings ranging from 2.9A to 20.3A, excellent clamping capability ranging from 14.8V to 103.5V and low incremental surge resistance.

The VTVSxxASMF parts also provide ESD capability of ±30kV for air and contact discharges, in accordance with the IEC 61000-4-2 standard.
