TT Electronics has introduced the LRMAP5930 series of low-resistance, metal alloy current-sense resistors.
The LRMAP5930 is available in resistance values as low as 200μΩ and with a power rating on a standard FR4 PCB of up to 10W. The maximum measurable current is over 200A, meaning that in most cases the measurement capability of the LRMAP5930 is restricted only by the capacity of the PCB tracks. A 50% higher power rating of 15W can be achieved in assemblies mounted on a thermal substrate such as direct bonded copper or insulated metal substrate.
The LRMAP5930 shunt resistors are intended for use in circuits which regulate current flow, detect stalled motors or measure power consumption.
They are robust and formed from a continuous band of E beam welded precision resistive strip, and various alloys are used to provide the rated resistance value.
The resistors’ metal parts withstand all normal industrial solvents used to clean printed circuits. They can withstand high energy surges of up to 33J, providing for good reliability under in-rush and momentary short-circuit conditions.
