Two microcontroller lines from STMicroelectronics offer increased energy efficiency and more integrated features to add to the appeal of the STM32F4 Access Line of MCUs for high-performance embedded designs.
Qualified for operation at temperatures up to 125°C, the STM32F413 MCU is intended for use in always-on sensor-acquisition applications, and is also ideally suited to general-purpose industrial designs. The similar STM32F423 is additionally equipped with advanced encryption functions including a true random number generator and an AES-256 cryptographic hardware accelerator.
Delivering high performance with high energy efficiency, the new STM32F4 MCUs are based on a 100MHz Arm® Cortex®-M4 core. Supported by ST’s power-saving Dynamic Efficiency technologies, the devices draw a current in Run mode as low as 112μA/MHz.
The STM32F413 and STM32F423 feature up to 1.5Mbytes of on-board Flash memory and a large 320kbytes of SRAM. A rich set of audio capabilities includes a serial audio interface and an enhanced voice-acquisition interface with multi-channel Digital Filter for Sigma-Delta Modulators (DFSDM), which enables low-power sound localisation and beam forming.
The devices also provide a wide range of peripherals, including two 12-bit DACs, up to ten UART interfaces and three CAN 2.0B interfaces.
The STM32F4x3 MCUs also provide a 100MHz dual-mode Quad SPI channel for connecting serial off-chip memory, and a 16-bit flexible memory controller for external SRAM, PSRAM or NOR Flash.
