STMicroelectronics – Power Architecture MCUs for automotive applications feature integrated hardware security module


STMicroelectronics’ SPC58 C-Line is a series of general-purpose 32-bit Power Architecture® microcontrollers intended for use in vehicles in body, networking and security applications, such as secure on-board communication systems.

Designed in compliance with the specifications of the ISO 26262 functional safety standard, these SPC58 MCUs enable users to implement system designs which offer an ASIL-B safety rating.

The SPC58 C-Line MCUs also offer various security features including a Hardware Security Module (HSM). They can be used in applications which must meet EVITA requirements for securing on-board architecture and communication protocols.

Built on the legacy of successful SPC56 MCUs based on ST’s embedded 90nm Flash technology, the new SPC58 C-Line products benefit from new 40nm Flash technology.

This technology offers lower power consumption in Run mode, while the advanced low-power modes manage even complex contact-monitoring sequences in stand-by mode and without intervention by the CPU.

The SPC58 C-Line family consists of two variants: the single-core SPC584C80 and the dual-core SPC58EC80. They are available in a small eTQFP64 package featuring eight ISO CAN FD modules, as well as an eTQFP100/144/176 with a FlexRay™ and an Ethernet interface. They support the latest communication interfaces including ISO CAN FD and Ethernet with Audio-Video Bridging (AVB) capability.
