Vishay – Automotive-grade optocoupler provides 3.75kV of isolation


Vishay Intertechnology has launched its first automotive-grade phototransistor optocoupler, the VOMA617A.

The VOMA617A consists of an infrared LED optically coupled to a silicon phototransistor. It is housed in a compact SOP-4 mini-flat package, which occupies 30% less PCB space than a standard DIP-4 optocoupler package.

The device provides 3,750V isolation voltage, and a creepage and clearance distance of ≥5mm.

It combines a high Current-Transfer Ratio (CTR) with a low forward current of 5mA in a CTR range from 50% to 600%.

The VOMA617A is designed for galvanic and noise isolation, signal transmission, battery management, and system control in automotive applications, including hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as high-reliability industrial applications.
